Guest safety & awareness

We want every stay at The Majestic Moose to be relaxing, comfortable, and safe. Like any cottage property, there are natural features and seasonal conditions to be aware of. Please review the information below so you can enjoy your stay confidently and responsibly.

Section 1: General Safety Awareness

This is a private residence, not a hotel

Please supervise children at all times, especially near water and outdoors

Use handrails, steps, and walkways carefully — surfaces may be uneven or slippery

Report any safety concerns or maintenance issues immediately

Section 2: Waterfront & Water Safety

Our property is located on Little Glamor Lake, part of the Trent–Severn Waterway. Water levels and shoreline conditions change throughout the season.

Lake levels naturally fluctuate throughout the season due to rainfall, snowmelt, and regional water management.

Water height at Little Glamor Lake can vary by up to approximately 5–6 feet between spring and late summer, which may affect shoreline appearance, dock height, and shallow-water access at different times of year.

These changes are normal for cottage-country lakes and do not impact swimming, paddling, or general enjoyment of the waterfront. Conditions vary week to week and are part of the natural lake environment.

Life jackets are recommended for children and weaker swimmers

Swimming, boating, paddling, and dock use are at your own risk

Water shoes are strongly recommended, especially for children

Section 3: Outdoor & Nature Awareness

Wildlife sightings are common (birds, deer, small animals)

Do not feed or approach wildlife

Trails, paths, and terrain may be uneven

Wear appropriate footwear when hiking or exploring

Fire pits may only be used when no fire ban is in effect

Section 4: Weather & Seasonal Conditions

Weather can change quickly in cottage country

Power outages may occur during storms

Winter conditions may require AWD/4WD and winter tires

Emergency response times may be longer than in urban areas

Section 5: Appliances & Amenities

Use all appliances as intended

Never leave BBQs, fires, or cooking unattended

Report any appliance issues immediately

Follow posted instructions for specialty items (fire pits, dock, games, etc.)

Section 6: Liability & Assumption of Risk

By booking and staying at the property, guests acknowledge that cottage living involves inherent risks, including but not limited to swimming, boating, hiking, uneven terrain, weather conditions, and use of provided amenities.

Guests assume full responsibility for their safety and the safety of all members of their party. The property owners are not liable for injuries, accidents, illness, loss, or damage occurring during the stay.

Children must be supervised at all times.

Section 7: Emergency Information

Civic address and emergency contact details are posted inside the home

In an emergency, call 911

Notify the hosts as soon as possible after any emergency situation

By staying at The Majestic Moose, all guests confirm they have read, understood, and agree to follow the safety guidance outlined above.
